You know how it is the season of the glittery sequin?  We see them in the store windows (or on your IG feed) this time of year? Yeah, those. So pretty.  Then you know how somehow you bring home that glittery, sequinned thing and then wonder how you are supposed to wear it more than once? Yeah, that.

I’m showing you how it is indeed possible to wear those sequin things multiple times in many different ways. Three years ago I bought a matching white sequin top and skirt from Zara – I know matching! I fell in love with the look together, but hadn’t worn the two items much on their own. What is the point of buying separates if I don’t actually wear them separately? So once again, I am helping you with your investment. I am ensuring that your return on sequins yields a high dividend return rate of … Just checking to make sure you didn’t think you stumbled upon a financial blog here.

How to Style the Sequin Skirt

Look 1:

One would think that styling the sequin skirt would be the easy part from this outfit. One would be wrong. But I managed to come up with three ways to pair the skirt for three different looks. Keep the look simple and casual and pair it with a t-shirt. Tip: try skipping the tonal look and pair it with a bright colour.

Look 2:

Remember the days when we had events to dash to straight from the office? Me neither, but this is how I would pair the skirt with a white button down for a monochromatic look.

Look 3:

Nothing is chicer than a fine knit black turtleneck. It’s maybe my most versatile winter piece. This one is from Club Monaco and currently on sale!

How to Style the Sequin top

The oversized look of this sweater is my favourite! It’s basically a sweatshirt with lots of sequins.  This one is old, but here are some of my current favourites here, here and here.

Look 1

My obsession with leather pants on the blog here is no secret.  In case you wondered, you can read about it here. Case in point though, leather pants and sequins.

Look 2

If the leather pants are still too dressy for you, then pull out your most comfy pair of jeans. These are my favourite distressed boyfriend jeans.

Look 3

If you want a more dressier look but not head to toe sequin – opt for a wide legged cropped pant like these. Tip: Use shape wear to tuck oversized sweaters (or any of the tops) into so that there is no bulkiness or sequins showing through your pants or skirt.
