Is it really time to put away our summer clothes? Didn’t it feel like we JUST took them out and didn’t even get to wearing them (oh Summer….I miss you already). Even though Fall fashion can be so much fun, it can also be expensive. But maybe this is part of the issue: seasonal wardrobes. So many clothes for a short period of time, and then we put them away until the next year, hoping that they still fit and we still like them. Not to mention, seasonal wardrobes cost more money.
But if you live in Canada and you NEED to have different wardrobes for the very different seasons we have, then yes, go shopping! However, to be honest, I HATE putting away my summer stuff to get ready for fall (and then gulp – winter!). Mostly because it’s so much work, and I feel like I invest in items that I love but I barely get to wear. So this year I am giving this transitional wardrobe business a try. After all, if you love something, shouldn’t you wear it instead of letting the moths devour it?
I started with this dress from Aritiza from a few seasons ago. Sorry, they don’t carry it right now, but I like this one and this one from their current season. It’s black, its a mid length which is versatile, and it’s essentially a t-shirt style dress. It’s my base to wear for a few different outfits. Tip: when buying items to wear for multi-seasons look for neutral colours and patterns. A bore, I know, but hey – it’s easy.
Look 1:
It’s cardigan weather! What screams Fall fashion more than throwing on a cozy knit cardigan and replacing your sandals with a pair of white leather sneakers.
Look 2:
Fall fashion means leather jackets, and I’ve been waiting to wear this one I got on sale from last season. Layer it over your dress and add some ankle boots for a cool girl look.
Tip: If it’s cooler than expected, throw on a pair of tights or leggings.
Look 3:
Remember the fall fashion trend of the Over the Knee Boot? Well it’s actually a smart way to stay warm and cozy when wearing a dress. Don’t be afraid to layer a cozy knit on top of your dress.
Tip, check out how you can use a think belt to help with the layering here
